She'Koyokh by boxplayer

The amazing She'Koyokh at St Mary's Music Hall.

Dave put it into my head to work from home today rather naughtily, so I did - another lovely warm day. Before I'd had a chance to grab breakfast though, picked up a phone call from J letting me know about the system trouble they'd had yesterday while I was off (and a lot of the other senior staff too).

So after breakfast in the garden, I barely had a chance to check my emails before I had to dial in to a meeting about the problem. Then followed a terrible morning of trying to stay connected - just kept being booted out of the network.

Had lunch in the garden - yesterday's leftover quinoa salad - then worked till 5.30. Moved to the sitting room and the connection problems got a bit better. Dave came home in good time thank goodness - he's been leaving very late over the last few days and we had a gig to go to.

He changed quickly and we drove to the village. Grabbed some good seats at the front of the church for the concert. before getting ourselves a veggie thali from Sham's Kitchen - a pop-up Asian food stall. Not tried them before - really yummy food: dhal, sag aloo, rice, pakora. We ate sitting on a bench admiring the village guerilla gardening.

The concert was superb, one in a new series called St Mary's Music Hall. First up was community choir The Owl Parliament doing a mix of popular songs and east European songs including a Georgian one.

Then She'Koyokh - a renowned klezmer outfit with Kurdish singer Cigdem Aslan. Stunning musicianship and singing including some amazing virtuosic clarinet and fiddle playing along with a great percussionist, guitarist and accordion player too. By the end, the whole audience were up dancing.
