Clarinet trio

At the Eurosession at Shakespeares in Sheffield.

Was all sad this morning as I was leaving Dave for several nights for a long weekend away. Up early to catch the 7.30 from St Pancras to Sheffield as I was working there today. Running late so no time for my normal Starbucks tea and cheese and mushroom croissant.

Had to get a not so very nice roast veg toastie from a shop on the upper level near the platforms. Smooth journey - checking emails, listening to music, and reading my paper.Still a glitch on my Independent app so had logged in with the temporary login they'd given me.

Cold and damp in Sheffield, but the office was very warm. Had lunch with James in the Harlequin just across the river - another very nice Sheffield pub. Cheese roll with chips and a half of local ale.

Worked till 5 then walked up the hill the short distance to the Premier Inn. Totally automated check-in and key card collection - didn't need to speak to anyone. A nice big room and a comfy bed though - did a bit of Spanish and reading before heading out again for the short walk to meet Anna at Shakespeares.

We walked next door to a very good Indian, 7 Spices Balti, for poppadoms, bhajis and a fish tandoori. All very tasty with very friendly staff. Swapped presents and gossip. Gave her the succulent we'd been looking after for 3 months - sad to say goodbye.

Then back to Shakespeares for the eurosession. Only 2 other musicians when we first arrived - so it was just me and the clarinet trio. But a few more arrived and they were mainly very good ones so didn't play all that much.

Left at 10.45 for an early night. Very cold outside, though it had stopped raining - glad I'd opted to bring my padded coat.
