Bolton House, Hawes by boxplayer

Bolton House, Hawes

A striking old shop front.

Rather irritatingly, while trying to shower, I managed to soak my slippers and had to put them on the table above the heater to try and dry them.

A lovely breakfast, with veggie sausages, egg, tomatoes and mush, chatting to the other course participants staying in the B&B. Walked to the museum for the day's workshops with Toon van Mierlo from Naragonia.

Morning working was spent working on a 4- part improvised piece with lots of different lines, so you could find something to play whatever your level.

Mooched around the shops at lunchtime finding a cuddly octopus for Sophie's forthcoming 50th. Also picked up a couple of local porters for Dave from the deli. The sun was out now and it seemed to be getting warmer. Grabbed a cheese roll and a coconut jam thing and found a space outside the chippie where another course participant was sitting. Had to help him out with some of his chips.

The afternoon workshop saw us finishing off the arrangement we'd been working on then there was a short workshop with Vicky doing a pleasant E minor Brian Peters tune.

Rested up at the B&B before meeting the C# crew at the chippie. Managed to get a table inside. Bit of a wait but when the food came, it was the most amazingly huge portions. I went for the big chip dinner - cod, chips, bread and butter, and mushy peas with tea.

Jim opted for a huge plate of chips, a battered haggis and a battered Cumberland sausage. Can't believe he ate it all, nor that I managed to clean up my plate too. Though Helen did have some of my chips.

On to the concert, for seats right at the front. A most excellent evening with Brian Peters, Saul Rose, a very nervous Theo Gibb and a superb acoustic Naragonia. A session after in the Fountain - far too many noisy tunes.
