View back ascending Pole Hill

Stunning views and beautiful blue skies with wispy clouds on today's short walk around Epping Forest.

Really hot and sunny today. We both had the day off and took the chance to do another of the short walks from my book. Parked the car in Chingford Plain car park near the golf course and walked north through the forest up over the glorious Yates Meadow with its big daisies and buttercups and fantastic views over London.

Gorgeous birdsong again and we saw what we think may have been a kestrel. On to Gilwell Park, the scout place, onto Yardley Hill and then south back towards Pole Hill. Got a bit lost coming off Yardley Hill but found the beaten track towards Pole Hill eventually.

Views here too and an obelisk over the remains of the hut where once Lawrence of Arabia had resided. Came back via the side of the golf course which had opened for the first time that day.

A bagel and halloumi lunch outside in the sunshine - and more reading. Had our last whisky fence drinks with the neighbours as Dave has worked through them all: the Four Roses bourbon we bought recently for 'Bourbon' Cowboy. Veggie meatballs with grains and the last Lord of the Rings - Return of the King. Started a bit late and then realised the film was 3hrs 20 so stopped it half way - work tomorrow.
