The William Morris beds looking splendid in the park now. Other flowers on show: Jerusalem sage, sisyrinchium, irises, roses and verbena. Cycling back this way from Zumba. A stand-in today - a really good leader, just the right combination of high energy and simple routines as well as incorporating more trad fitness moves like squats and kicks. Shame she was only covering.
Over to mum's so Dave could dismantle and dispose of the sofa BHF couldn't take. While mum watched the closing bits of this morning's jubilee celebrations (the flypast was amazing apparently), we lugged the sofa down in the goods lift and the not inconsiderable distance to the big bins at the end of the lower car park. There he got to work on it with hammer, crowbar, saw and stanley knife. I made myself useful by standing on it to keep it stable and throwing the pieces in the big bin.
Dave spent the afternoon trimming back the neighbour's monstrous front garden rose bush and unearthing it with a view to seeing if it would take in our garden. I didn't do much other than clean the bathroom before reading and drinking gin in the sunshine. Stopped to make a cauliflower and kale cheesy tray bake for supper then proceeded to fall asleep through Springwatch - anyone would think I'd been doing all the work today.
Sister S messaged to say N's father has had a minor heart attack (he had a bypass 20 years ago apparently). He's in hospital and things are stable so they're not unduly concerned as yet. Queen struggling a bit after today, recurring mobility issues means she'll miss tomorrow's Thanksgiving service at St Paul's.
3 good things
1. Limpy has obviously not been completely phased by Foxykins as she was curled up in the sun this morning.
2. The Queen's unprecedented 70 years on the throne means we get a super extra long weekend starting today.
3. Prawns on sale in Tesco fried up with garlic, chilli and parsley for a cheekily luxurious alfresco lunch.
How lovely! I really wish I could have a flower garden showy as this! I’m planning to watch the CBS special tonight about the Queen. Just finished watching season 4 of The Crown on Netflix.
