A few of us decided to play a few last tunes in the hotel garden before heading off.
Restless night as is normal in a strange bed. Quite warm, so we had the window open, but the main road got noisily busy as morning came on. Bed very soft and bouncy but oddly comfortable despite that.
Breakfast very good, veggie fry-up with toast, fruit etc then short tune session in the warm morning. Dave and I headed off in search of ancient yew trees in Druid's Grove near Box Hill, having visited them many years ago.
Satnav got us to the remote car park close to the grove and we headed into the woods in search of the grove. Thought we'd missed them, but eventually found the right section of the wooded slopes absolutely full of the most ancient yews - allegedly up to 3000 years old. Truly spectacular. Lovely afternoon for it - warm sunny intervals.
Drive back very easy and had time to relax in the garden after unpacking.
Lots of good things in a good-thing packed weekend, but one of the best - as I was sitting in the garden, I noticed not one fox (Foxykins) sunbathing, but another behind him - it was Limpy! So it wasn't her we saw dead by the pub the other day. Much relief.
