Mother and daughter

A splendid hour or two visiting the Berthe Morisot: Shaping Impressionism exhibition at the Dulwich Picture Gallery with Dave and Lara. Portraits, as well as domestic and outdoor scenes, created with wonderful vibrant mobile brush strokes and colour. Self-portrait and a poignant image of her daughter Julie after her father, Eugene Manet (brother of Édouard) died. Two years after this, Berthe died too young at 53 from pneumonia leaving Julie an orphan.

Grabbed a delightful lunch at Rocco di Pappa, a favourite haunt when we're this way. We found their small courtyard at the back with a vine covered trellis and with the warm sunshine, it was almost like being in Italy. Shared starters of calamari and goats cheese bruschetta and desserts of chocolate cake and tiramisu with a luscious seafood risotto in between.

Dave looked in the wine shop after and I noseyed in a couple of other interesting gift and craft shops. Home to sit in the garden for a while as the sun remained out.

3 good things
1. First glass of rosé of the year.
2. Pictures from the tenant show the new windows in place.
3. A lot of accordion playing practising tunes for a workshop week.
