Bubbly by boxplayer

Peter pours out the bubbly.

A nice lie-in this morning after last night's costumed shenanigans. But finally S trooped upstairs to badger us to come down and join her and R and G for a game of Coppit. Showered and breakfasted first and then joined the game - took me a while to get my brain round it but by the end of it had somehow managed to get the hang of it. S turned out to be a bit of a poor loser but her brothers were very kind and gave her quite a few breaks.

Meanwhile Sophie, Lara and Anna went swimming and soon Peter took the children off for a brisk hike in the fresh air. So Dave and I chilled out, playing music and I did a bit of photo editing.

Once the others had returned, we rustled up all the leftovers from last night and had a late lunch - even yummier cold was most of it. Then I mulled some wine and we spent a good couple of hours in the front room opening all our presents to each other - lots of lovely things as usual: a handmade devore scarf from Lara, some pretty folkloric enamel bowls and a set of Marimekko postcards from Anna and some assorted napkins in glorious prints from Sophie.

Then it was time for the traditional game of Articulate - the children are growing now and are becoming quite good at it. Still us girls beat the boys.

At some point Lara made a yummy tomato pasta sauce with the thousands of extra tomatoes Anna had accidentally ordered. And we then watched a couple of episodes of Father Ted: King of the Sheep and 'So Father I hear you're a racist now ... ' and some of the BBC Walk on the Wildside talking animal clips.

Superb chill out day.
