A fiendishly busy day at work as I had to finish off loads of stuff before going on leave for a few days. Managed to leave just after 4 though to go meet Juliette at Baker St to do the Wenlock and Mandeville green stroll around Regent's Park.
This was fairly splendid. The strolls are designed to take you round lots of interesting bits of London and Regent's Park is one of my favourite bits. Lots of contrast: big expanses of grass with people playing football, willow-lined ponds with herons and swans, ornate and gorgeously maintained flower beds (and a patriotic theme going on at the moment, I wonder why) with fountains plashing gently in the evening sunshine (which rather irritatingly kept hiding behind clouds whenever we spotted a good photo opp).
But also, the Wenlocks and Mandevilles here were very striking - Birdy Wenlock, Safari Mandeville and a rather dapper Victorian Mandeville complete with a caddish moustache. And of course, Sherlock Wenlock.
Made our way to Marylebone High St after, to Fishworks for a chat, a glass or two of something cool and white and a nice fish supper: oysters and ray for me. We both desperately tried to resist the puddings, but the lemon tart was too tempting so we shared one.
