Had some time to kill before the next train after picking up our veg bag so came off the busy main road clogged with traffic trying to get onto the M25 and found this peaceful oasis by the New River. This is famously neither new nor a river. It was built in 1613 as an artificial waterway to bring fresh water from springs in Hertfordshire to the New River Head, a reservoir in Islington, from which the water was distributed throughout London.
