Red cabbage and avocado salad

51 / 365
Using up the red cabbage I bought from the farmers' market yonks ago and the mushrooms from New Covent Garden Market - enlivened with some cherry toms, avocado, olives, pine nuts, and a light olive oil, lime juice, coriander and garlic dressing.

A nice treat after having washed down the bathroom from top to bottom - the first of our rooms to get the full works in readiness for presenting to would-be buyers.

That's an easy one - at least it's in relatively good nick with nothing a large bucket of soapy water and a big sponge can't fix. We finished doing most of the sorting out of stuff to put into storage yesterday and have, as a result, gained access to parts of the spare room that we haven't seen in donkey's years. There are creatures - mites, spiders and whatnot - that have been creating an insectopia/arachnotopia on the window ledges. We can't live like this any more. There have been muttered vows of 'we're totally going digital from now on' (yes a lot of it is books, CDs etc).

Yummy! Hope you had chocolate pud to follow!! Our book situation is completely out of hand - my friend got the book man from the market round and made £200 - not sure if ours are in good enough condition but I'm going to take him a big bag and see what happens.

Your delicious-looking lunch appears to be the oasis that awaited you amidst the clean out. I "get it" about all you described...we've lived in this one house for 40 years... We have a lot of "on site" storage, too!

This looks delicious, I'm hungry now!

Most of us have way too much "stuff", moving house is a great way to cull some.

We went digital when we moved onto the boat - we didn't do very well at getting rid of stuff we already owned - we have boxes of books & CDs scattered around longsuffering friends' garages etc, but the move to kindles and spotify/itunes etc was pretty easy when we did it, and at least we've ceased to accumulate.

Its a nice photo but you wouldn't catch me eating that - two of the least trustworthy of all the vegetables in one dish!

@jewelsandbinoculars - Ha ha - untrustworthy vegetables? Which ones? (Should I be watching my back ....?)

1. Avocados. Slippery.
2. Mushrooms. They are fungus...fungus!

Absolutely you should be watching yourself!! A salad like that is just reckless.

@jewelsandbinoculars - I have a friend just like that about mushrooms, she won't touch them with a bargepole. The only things I mainly have a prob with are capers and beetroot ... the work of the devil.
