Foraging on the marshes

Cow parsley on Walthamstow marshes. Although it has its uses, best to avoid, as it's very difficult to distinguish from the totally toxic hemlock.

A relaxing morning with a late brunch of halloumi. Then we drove down to the marshes and parked up so we could walk the mile to the ice centre to join the free foraging walk. Very popular, apparently there were, at one point, about 100 people there. We split into two groups, Dave following the walk about herbal medicine and I the foraging one. Very interesting walk, talk and tell about the different weedy stuff you can basically enliven your salads with. Ended up at the very pleasant Springfield cafe at at the top of the park for a tasty roast veg/tabbouleh concoction and pear and raspberry juice - sitting out in the open on the lawn. While walking, it had got very sunny and hot which we hadn't been expecting and it was quite warm enough to sit out and eat.

After, walked back to the car and drove back via the entertaining 'Ivan buys your house' sign. Entrepreneurial Walthamstow at its best.

Very pretty scene, it is a shame you can't forage halloumi.
