@Michelle - Yes, I drum, but this is a friend of mine.
I was videotaping a friend's gig and thought I could pick up some cool shots of the band. I didn't end up with a shot I was happy with, so I took this photo of the drummer and started pushing it around a bit in Lightroom. I liked the grainy texture it yielded, so I continued down that path, playing with various levels until I found the balance between being satisfied with the shot and making myself crazy.
I liked how he ended up looking like vibrational energy, and it made me think of how he's creating sound waves and redistributing the energy. Or something like that.
thanks for the feedback Brad.....must admit that having another look at the pic I do now see that it is not you - just remembered that you did drum & took it for granted that it was you sitting there.....yeah I know that feeling of crazeeeeee while editing!!! See Karen also relates 8)
Oh, nice kit! His sticks seemed to have just disappeared too, which I think creates a great since of movement and energy. (Unless of course they slipped and those in the front row were ducking, in which case you were lucky to have not lost an eye... :) just kidding.) This is a really cool photo.
