Rebel Yell by bradsworld

Rebel Yell

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

You can see the context of this shot from the Orange Public Library here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bradsworld/5052668469

This shot was taken there also: http://365project.org/bradsworld/365/2010-07-19

Officially changing the title from "Silence" to "Rebel Yell" because I like it better, and because I can. :)
what a completely different perspective from the original :) very abstract!

The other perspective is quite different! But I absolutely love the 'unconventional' shot you chose! lol.

that's great, Brad..such unusual object (at lease for me).... almost like the Dali's surreal painting
October 5th, 2010
I love this!! what a silly angle :)
October 5th, 2010
Viewed from this angle and without a sense of scale, I think this looks like a somewhat perverse tooth-brush holder.
October 5th, 2010
Fun perspective of this, it makes it so interesting! And that little guy is kinda cute, even if he is laughing at us! :)
October 5th, 2010
It does depend on how you look at it..... Cool shot!

I like this angle the zebra looks a bit more gentler and nicer. The other angle looks very scary. I would be afraid to go to the library. I guess I would need to stay in the "younger children" section.
October 5th, 2010
Very cool shot, great composition.
October 5th, 2010
At this angle that zebra doesn't look like its being silent, quiet, or any of those other hush type adjective. :) I like the other one from Flickr too... maybe because from the different angle the zebra looks nicer. :) (to me...)
October 5th, 2010
Neat photo...I like it!
October 5th, 2010
I like this very much, cool+!
October 5th, 2010
@hellcat - the zebra doesn't look silent to me either. In fact, it looks to me like it's shrieking in terror at being locked in some sort of solid somewhere out in space. The idea if silence had to do with his isolation and if anyone could hear him. I thought of titling it 'Airlock', or as an homage to the movie 'Alien', 'In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream". I love how alien and bizarre it looks when turned on its side.
October 5th, 2010
Love this angle...and he does look like he's screaming in terror! Did you hear anything when you were there? 'Course by now, he may have laryngitis!
October 5th, 2010
haha...funny and cool! nice lighting too!
October 5th, 2010
LOVE the Alien reference! It's perfect! It does look like terror to me too. I just didn't want to ruin it for anyone. You may be on to something with the silence in isolation idea. And it's bodiless--- maybe it doesn't like to be mounted on a wall? Hunted? Oh the ideas could go on and on. In reference to my own pic... being a grown up sounded a lot more fun when we were kids and/or teens...right? :)
October 5th, 2010
It's as if you're looking up from the toilet bowl and seeing one of the bacteria around the rim!
October 5th, 2010
Fun photo & cool shot!
October 5th, 2010
That would be highly elitist of me and the answer is no...but yes... Yes, I'm packing again...baby on the way :-)
October 5th, 2010
lol,neat original pic!
October 5th, 2010
wow, love the wacky perspective of this...taking it out of context makes your head spin trying to figure out what it is that you are looking at. Cool shot!
October 5th, 2010

October 5th, 2010
If a zebra screams in the library, does he get "shushed?"
