“Winter is for Snowmen”

My wife loves snowmen because they are more ‘winter’ décor than ‘Christmas’ décor and therefore she feels justified in keeping them up into March, long after the Christmas decorations have been long packed away. I suppose they are okay because they bridge the gap between the winter festivities and the approaching spring. When the snowmen finally get packed away it is a certainty that spring is not too far away! This is one which I recently acquired for JoAnne and our daughter Alyssa liked it because it looks very Tim Burton-esque and I can definitely agree with her assessment. Just another tchotchke that adds a little seasonal panache. [28 December 2017]

Definitely seasonal panache!

Yes...snowmen are good for winter décor, unlike Santa. :)

What's not to like about a snowman? They are always happy and not very demanding...

Very festive for the season, and I like your thoughts about the snowmen decor taking us into spring.

I like her style! My friend, who is a clergyman's wife, told me about the tradition of Candlemas. You leave all the lights and sparkle up until the feast, which is on February 2nd. That way you get light through the darkest month. I have to say, I have done it before and loved it! Though other people think I am a little nuts.......

Cheery chappie. A what a great idea to have 'winter decorations' that can stay out for longer.
