2018 – 365 Days, 525,600 Minutes to Remember (Year 3)

For the past four years I have been documenting my life day-by-day – it is indeed a labor of love. There are some days when it if as frustrating as hell trying to get a photograph but fortunately, those days are the exception to the rule. These photos are not Pulitzer Prize winning photographs by any stretch of the imagination but they give me a way to focus on my life each and every day.

I focus on the things which are important to me – family, friends, faith, fun, geekiness, observations, and generally anything which interests me enough to photograph it.

I enjoy writing and doing this for the past four year I have embraced the art of photography as well and this is my testament to the year 2018 and anything that it holds as the days and months unfold. I consider it a blessing each and every day that I can put two feet on terra firma and make my way thru the day. My photo journal may range from the irreverent to the banal, the serious to the silly, the heartfelt to the asinine but it is mine and I make no excuses for it and its contents.

Thank you to all of those who follow me and make comments – all of you make it worth the effort and I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you.

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure-measure a year

In daylights- in sunsets
In midnights- in cups of coffee
In inches- in miles
In laughter- in strife

Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life

Lyrics, ‘Seasons of Love’
~ Donnie Osmond

I am not, nor will I ever be, a photographer. I take pictures to give me a reason to write a little something each day. I have thousands of random thoughts that call my mind home which I could potentially put down on paper but it never happens. This is just a little peek inside my mind which sates my desire to write and this just makes it a little commitment as opposed to a bigger one. The photographs are a means to a way.

After 2 years - 730 consecutive days of posting photos on FaceBook - it has become a part of the daily routine – one which I look forward to completing each day. Most days it isn’t really a grind but occasionally a day comes along where it is more challenging than other days. I often don’t like those photos but I am happy that they only occur sporadically. My wife participated in 365Project in 2015 and I really enjoyed just following her photos and watching the positive comments and I look forward to being a part of this community along with her for the upcoming year.

Each of us is an artist in our own unique and individual ways. I have certainly enjoyed looking at photos here for the past year as my spousal JoAnne has participated in the 365Project for the past year. Your photos have provided me the inspiration to try new photographic techniques and I look forward to following many of you in the upcoming year. Thanks in advance for anyone who chooses to watch as well as for reading – I sincerely appreciate it!

Without any further ado, secure your seat belts and enjoy the ride!

“Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go.”
~ E. L. Doctorow

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
~ Elliott Erwitt
