Ta moko by brigette

Ta moko

This beautiful outdoor artwork by Owen Dipple. Found in Auckland alongside the motorway. Its hard to tell the scale here, but covers a 2 or 3 story building #makingourcitybeautiful
Moko is traditional Maori tattoo, each is unique with meaning and story personal to that individual.

Not only is this a remarkably and beautifully executed art work, it's fascinating to "outsiders" who , like me, haven't see much Maori body tattoo work. It's interesting to me that this works so well on her, but might look (to me) totally out of place on a westerner trying to imitate Maori art!

@Weezilou true!
My understanding of moko is that the intricate designs often represent that persons history or whakapapa ... symbolically telling that story
