We all dream of it
Remote locale, quick commute
I have found a way ;o)
I have been working on this for what feels like days, mostly waiting for video to render. Filmed with my Samsung GalaxyS i9000 phone using the standard Android camera/video software.
To keep it photo-relevant, I've scattered 21 of my previous 365 pics around in this little clip as I pass the locations at which they were taken...all on my way home or at home as it happens.
Congrats on finishing your video. I enjoyed it, especially the music! But in my country you'd be driving on the wrong side of the road. Very fun to watch.
@pepitaliang Cheers, Pepita :) I look forward to doing more of this, too.
@joymol Thanks, Brooke! Did you like how I hid the fact I was driving the wife's little Suzuki Swift by dubbing in the sounds of the high-powered man-car at the start? How tuff do I look now, eh?! ;o)
I'm hooked. I drive 100km to work every a.m. and 100 km home every night...I desperately want the 4 1/2 min version...also music...also lights and lanes...m9ne are country highways with road works. Congratulations.
@palusami My complete ignorance of Cambodia may be making me look like a dill here, but do they have tuk tuk's there? I reckon one of these in the back of a tuk tuk looking out over the tuk tuk dude's shoulder would be very cool.
@denisedaly Thanks, Denise :) It was a very easy video to collect but ended up quite onerous waiting for Final Cut to render every time I added something to the sequence. I haven't done any non-linear video editing in so long I've forgotten most of my old tricks.
@ijuin Bah, you got me, Eiwa! It doesn't really take me 4:30mins to get home, not even if I drove a Celica :) That trip took me 35-minutes which is average for that time of night. As you saw I had no traffic and most of the lights and intersections were in my favour. GOING to work, well that's another matter entirely. Some days it has taken me 1.5hours solely because of the afternoon rush-hour traffic.
@swilde That's a hell of a drive you have to put up with, Sue. That pic of traffic lined up at roadworks from the other day has a much greater significance now. You'd totally identify with today's haiku, then. You poor bugger...
very cool and should be celebrated - sometimes it takes me this long just to merge on to Moggill Road from the Brookfield roundabout. My usual journey in Brisvegas would be so boring - me stuck in traffic looking at the rear bumpers of all those crawling cars in front of me. Thank goodness you did not try to recreate that iconoc ferrari drive thru paris.
@kjarn I love watching the fast paced road flying by to the music. It's like watching a replay of a Gran Turismo round and I certainly love that. I'm very flattered someone else enjoys it as much as I do. Thanks, Kathy :)
@peterauliciems I'm not familiar with the Ferrari/Paris meme but I'm going to youTube right now to find out. When the Moggill Ferry was shut down for the floods the wife had to go via Ipswich/Centenary/Moggill to get to her workplace at Pullenvale (QCAT). That sucked both ways during normal working hours. My trip in REALLY sucks when I'm on a 6pm start. Cheers, Peter :)
@brizmako yep u look very tuff now. The dubbed in "dodge Charger" sound effects made me and Sarah instanly think- wow that is one tuff Mother F$#%er. lol, I love the video and great song choice.
I think I just may try that out one day if I ever find myself in Paris and someone trusts me with their Ferrari. I even recognised a few of the streets and landmarks from my Gran Turismo 4 career ;o)
@girlincamo Well...I don't know about "genius"... ;)
@joymol It's funny you say Dodge Charger as that is one of the few old muscle cars I'd be keen to own. A 1968 HK GTS Monaro is #1, then a 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350, then the 1973 VJ Charger E55. Vroom vroom! 8-D
@naminstars I'm glad you both enjoyed it. Wife said I should have done it during the day but I only go 'in' during daylight hours and that's a very different ride.
@heesc I used my Samsung GalaxyS on the windscreen mount. The mount came with a camera hole in it and I've been itching to do something like this since I got it. I dropped the resolution down from 720P to 640x480 so the footage wouldn't fill up the phone's memory then edited it all as native MP4 in Final Cut Pro. I encourage EVERYONE to have a shot at this, coz it's cool and very fun. Cheers, Hee :)
@brizmako the Shelby is my favorite all time car. and then I am in love with the ccharger. I am not familier with the Monaro. I will have to google it to see what it's like. Vrooooommmm, vroooommmm
@hapikat Oh stop that! ;o) You just know that I haven't sped this video footage up at all. I'm sure you have a similar view coming out in the little Mazda :)
@seattle Thank you, Constance :-D Certification in any of the Apple Pro Tools is no small matter, but especially for Final Cut. If it's not rude to ask, what line of work are you in? Call it professional curiousity :)
Also, I just noticed on the © slide at the very end I forgot to change the date from the last one. Bugger!

THIS IS GENIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also the box indication is cool add-on. Again, great idea! Thumb up!

Brilliant really.
Genius if you mixed the audio.
