Rainy City Street

We got a light snow that pretty much melted as it fell this afternoon. Because of this there was a lot less traffic than normal today and I got this rare rush hour shot with very few cars, but great street reflections.
Fantastic! I like the composition and the reflections in the wet street. Well done!

Interesting how the lights are a sort of red. I see a lot of yellow, but these have taken on a sunset look.

is that Philly?
posted February 9th, 2012
@jsw0109 Yes it is, I am standing in the middle of Walnut looking west to Broad Street. I was in the 1300 block. I walk this way most nights home.

I thought it looked familiar :) Philly is such a great city....in spite of all those one way streets and panhandlers. You should post a pic of the Italian Market sometime.

@katiebrenkert @peterdegraaff @swilde @tamalita @melissapike @swguevin I adjusted the colors a bit and toned them down. Let me know your thoughts, I can always go back to the more orange tone, but decided to play around a bit.

@brumbe I like both versions differently - this one conveys a more cold, gritty feel I think, whereas the other had a more vibrant, alive feel.

@jsw0109 I may be in the Market on Sunday to get spices for my next photo series and will try to get one for you.

@brumbe sweet! Its probably a good thing I don't live there.... I'd be eating way too many of Geno's cheesesteaks

@jsw0109 next time you are in town I will send you a different place for cheesesteaks.

I like that there is a sense of movement in this shot...great street shot.

Wonderful heavy lines and tones in this. The wet streets make the shot. Nicely done.

Yes, I agree with @aj1268 about the sense of movement. I love the lights and the dark blue on the street. You also really get a sense for how tall those buildings are. Congrats on the Pop Page Paula X 2!

I love rainy city streets. Great time for shots as those streets are so reflective and setting so moody. Fav!
