Yesterday we visited the famous Muengstener Bridge where my husband and his buddies when they were small guys climbed this bridge and walked across from one side to the other although the bridge was damaged during the war and as he says some steps were missing (small stairs go to the top on both sides.) as kids you had no fear. now he claims that it was awful dangerous and stupid but at the time i guess they dared each other. about this bridge: the bridge is 430 ft high and 500 ft long. at the time when he was small it was an engineering wonder and the only bridge of it's kind in the world (it connects 2 cities) Remscheid and Solingen. we spent hours walking through wooded areas and along the river the "Wupper" where you see the concoction that brings you from one side to the other. it is sort of a lift that is manpower and runs on to 2 heavy cables. lots of kids where enjoying the warm weather by going into the river, they also had a restaurant there with mini golf were by chance we met my husbands niece and her son playing mini golf so right away Hans had to keep score for them. all in all it was a pleasant day with BBQing in the evening where most of the family got together. we are truly enjoying our vacation and aren't looking forward to homing home this upcoming sunday.
Oh, wow! You got some really nice shots! What a coincidence to run into your husband's niece while you were out. It sounds like you guys are having an absolutely fabulous time!
Bruni, I just love these pictures, especially the bridge and the little tower to the right. Doesn't going home and the end of vacation always come way too early? I wish you more of nice days like this and happy memories.
That's such a nice collage, Bruni! So glad you're having a terrific vacation. We've just ended the evening & I have a few minutes to post my picture. We've had company & are really busy. We'll be in Canada until late September. (The tattoo goes on for 10 days in Halifax; we went for our 4th of July celebration!)
Lovely collage!
