We were out getting some Christmas greens for me to make aa outside Christmas display and went down a road till we came to this sign. our township is in the process of having bridges built to accomodate the future extension of Hwy 404 which will then go further north and end less than 5 minutes of where we live. of course we had to drive past that sign on soft sand as you can see to get close enough for me to get a picture..I only had my small Kodak P/S but i think the pictures turned out quite well.
@catsmeowb Yes that's true.. the new extension of the 404 is 15 km long and they have to build 3 bridges..the rest of the roads will be made dead end streets from both sides so that the 404 can run straight through. this phase is supplose to be finished in 2012 and than another extension is proposed to bring the 404 even further.
Nice shot. We just recently opened up most of the interchanges on a ring road here. The final leg of it will be done next year and then they are going to replace one of the bridges connecting the southside to downtown
@bkbinthecity thanks for your comment. a ring road is that whoever is in the ring has the rightaway. unfortunately we don't have any here that I know of..not even in Toronto. I saw them when we were on vacation in the States.
@bruni No those are traffic circles. The ring road is one major freeway that goes completely around the city of Edmonton with several exits at different spots. It makes getting through the city so much faster
@bkbinthecity ok makes sense..do you have the traffic circles in your city? the ring road sounds great...I think Toronto is behind the moon if you know what I mean.
I'm always impressed by the vision of civil engineers. It's hard to imagine that at some future date there will be a perfectly constructed road and bridge but you can be confident that all the pieces will eventually be in place.
@allie912 Thank you Allison..love to read your comments..you're always so possitive, yes sooner or later all will be in place like you said. where the exit of this new stretch of highway is going to be they have finished the widening of the road ..made it from a 2 lane into a four lane to collect the traffic coming off the exit, people who will have to travel further north to get to the next town and beynod. so when got home today after an outing with my daughter the two new lanes where open for the first time..
