Yesterday early afternoon we heard some sirens and saw two firetrucks zooming by. naturally we had to investigate. appearently some firetrucks alrady had finished their job as there were two more which must have arrived from the other end of the street. altogether there were 4 police cars, 1 ambulance 4 firetrucks and a news reporter. he came up to us and asked us some questions and we found out that the fire broke out at around 1 30 and that the backsplit home in question was totally gutted inside. he said that a space heater had been left on and a cat in the house must've turned it over. two families lost everthing but at least there was no one home except for the poor cat.
The idea of a house fire terrifies me. I can't imagine losing everything you own like that. It's a horrible thing any time of the year, but around the holidays I would imagine it's that much harder.
@nikkers Yes Nikkers I hope so too. Personally I don't know them but a lady across the street does..I'll get in touch with her and see how I can help out..
oh that's so awful! I am a stickler for not only turning my space heater off but unplugging it as well when it's not in use and I must be present for it to be in use.
@msk1p2 Sandra that is very smart. we don't have space heaters but when we light all the candles on our Christmas tree one of us has to be in the room at all times..and right next to it stands our fire distinguisher...in all the years we never had to use it once..
Oh....so so SO sad. That has to be so horrible. I know you have to be glad you made it out alive, but to lose all your things...they are comfort to you. I take shots of fire trucks...so this one caught my eye.
@espyetta MaryBeth this was a neighbor's house quite a bit down the road.. I don't even know them..they are renting the house and you probably know how often they move and new once moving in....but there was an account opened for them at a bank for relief funds and a place where we could donate clothing household articles toys and so on. from what I understand they received so much that they had to give some of it away.. thank you for commenting on my photos.
@bruni Oh, I am sorry...I worded that comment above with "I know YOU" and should not have used YOU. I knew it was a neighbor. Just my way of saying that if it happened to me, I would know that it was a miracle just to get out alive...and not worry over my things. Sorry if that confused you and I love looking at your pics/reading your posts!
great photo of the trucks. and I second what Melissa said..
