Work in progress

On my early walk this morning I went a different route and passed an old friend's home. both of them were ouside in their garden so I approached them to say hi. do you know what it's like when you haven't seen someone in ages, well I couldn't get away. she had too much to show me: for one thing her garden, she explained every flower and tree where they came from..some of them from their former home in Calgary, showed me all the bird feeders and started calling the squirrels by name..I must say they were rather tame. Waltraut my friend had treats for them in her pocket. then I had to have a quick look at the toy house her husband built which I called here work in progress. he cut every tiny cedar shake for the roof by hand . there was glass in the windows and in the balcony sliding door. fantastic workmanship. now all he needs to finish his project is the base the house is sitting on. for convenience purposes the house was sitting on a roll out table..the only thing I forgot to ask her was what is he doing with it when it's finished.

Lovely story. Feels good to know there are many nice people
Love the craftmanship of the builder of those houses . I can tell because in the earlier days I`ve build wooden ship models. all by hand . It takes sometimes several years. You captured it very nice and made a great collage of it

Beautiful photos of the different angles and pov, Bruni. This little cabin is a piece of perfection. They sound like a lovely couple ... with lots of variety and interests in life. Love your capture of the house and I too wonder what they will do with in the end. Display it somewhere I guess?!!

Amazing detail, but the best part of today's entry was your narrative. I can just imagine the feeling of being held against your will.

@allie912 Allison..thank you..I must confess years ago when I met this couple..I think we met at a German club and I found out that they lived just a few streets from our place we started meeting in the mornings when Waltraud took a walk down Lake Drive and I did sometimes at the same time..then I invited her in for coffee one day but couldn't get her to leave again..in the meantime she told me her whole life story..you know people who talk and talk and never let you say something. well she was one of those. the guys got together also and all four of started to play some card games. soon we played once a week at either their or our house. it didn't last too long though as her hubby was a poor loser and it came to words...so we quit the game and stayed away..I only saw them a few times in so many years so when I saw them that morning I thought I'll be civil and say hi.

I have a couple dear friends who talk and talk and talk. There is no such thing as a quick phone call with my friend Debbie. But it works out alright because I am not a talker most of the time! But it's nice you were kind and let her go on- sounds like she probably misses your get-togethers. Too bad her husband is less gracious. But I sure would like to hire him to restore my dollhouse! That's a beautiful job he's doing there.

How nice to visit with your neighbor and to see her husbands work in progress. The detail on this house is incredible. He must be a very patient and talented man. Sorry to read above that you had not seen your neighbor in some time and that you parted ways. I have wanted to meet a couple to have over but have not and may never. I am glad you had such a nice chat and had a nice visit. It may be just that and how it stays. Love your photo and nice of her to let you take photos for your project.

I like to thank each and everyone of you for taking the time and reading my way too long story..just to let you know the picture is of one house with two different views. he also made a replica of a theather called The red barn...unfortunately it burned to the ground (it actually was a barn and it was all built of wood)..we have seen many a show there over the 30 years we lived here in Keswick. oh btw the was a bricklayer by profession, now retired and unfortunately in very poor health.
