Pretty bird at flower pot. by bruni

Pretty bird at flower pot.

Not much to see when looking out the window except for more leaves on the ground and in the rain puddles. a moment later I saw one of the sparrows nibbling on some dead flower. I gave him a thumb up for trying to find something eatable and went to the cupboard to get some Zwieback for him for a special treat. most of it mind you was quickly gabbled up by a squirrel though.
As long as there is some color left, I don't throw the plant away.
Awesome shot

@espyetta I do feed a lot of birds. mostly sparrows, but we also have finches, nuthatches, chickadees. woodpeckers, in the summer blackbirds, robins and the mourning doves. oh yes, almost forgot blue jays......and many squirrels who think they're birds and try to get onto the feeders. they do get lots of seeds on the ground though, as the sparrows are messy eaters. thanks for your lovely comment, Marybeth.

Great shot of this lovely bird. ( Mus) I feed them only in winter time as most seed eating birds eat insects as the have eggs/birth.

@pyrrhula We feed them all year around with seeds, but you're right soon as the young ones are there they feed them with insects.
