Continuing with pictures from The Mayan Palace I like to share this one with you. To get to the lobby either from the outside or from within the building you had to cross a large entrance hall which had two entrances. This hall was quite large and it was very softly lit (almost semi dark). All around the walls were huge statues, the picture in the middle is of a decorated window. when you look at the left picture you can see how tall these statues really are in comparison to me standing at the base.
Lovely images enhanced by the lighting. That must have been interesting to see. I remember when we were in Cozumel years ago we visited the ruins and climbed up the steep hills. I'll need to dig out those photos ;-)
We like to think of our building projects as superior to those of ancient man. But when you look at something like this- it blows your mind to think they did it without "power tools"! Great collage.
Wow! Those are huge! Maybe the Mayans were giants? You look so small standing next to that towering statue! Amazing. Great collage, Bruni. And I agree with @olivetreeann - it is amazing what they did without power tools! Maybe that's why a lot of people say they were helped by aliens.
@prttblues Hi Bev. Thank you for your nice comment. I'll attach a link for you so can have a look at the Mayans phisical stature. These here in the hall of the resort were made that tall (not their original size). http://www.history.com/topics/maya @ @olivetreeann Hi Ann. you're absolutely right, only in this case the statues you see in the hall of the resort were exeggerated. All other statues throughout the lobby were of normal size.
