Sunday evening we were hit with the worst storm I've ever experienced in my life. it was thundering and lightning, the wind blew something fearful. the rain came down like sheets driven across the lake. ....and then the lights went out..... we were without power for a little short of two days of which I spent one day, Monday, our Civic Holiday in the ER once again. same old story... Afib. I'm ok now.
here you see how a tree went sideways into the roof of a house. fallen trees have caused the power outage. debris all over this area.
This is a tremendous photo and a horrifying story, Bruni! I'm so sorry you had to go to the ER again, especially during a storm and a holiday. I remember you had other plans. I also remember you had trees removed from your property--if not, this could have been your house! I'm so sorry to hear about this hard time for you personally and for your area.
Returning to your photo--it's not often we can capture a truly journalistic image of significance--this is one of those rare times--thank you for sharing it.
Oh my word, Bruni! What a mess! That poor person's house! I hope yours didn't suffer a fate like this one! So sorry to hear you were in the ER again. I worry about you!
SO SORRY TO SEE THIS DAMAGE AND ALSO ABOUT YOUR HEALTH,,,PRAYERS FOR YOU . WE HAD A BIG STORM THIS MORNING TOO. NO DAMAGE THANK GOD! GREAT SHOT ON THIS POOR PEOPLES HOUSE.. NOT GOOD ! FAV.
@demelo Thank you Ann. I'm fine for the time being. my next cardiologist appointment is Sept. 3rd. will have to see what he has to say. maybe I need stronger medications. Apparently the people living in this house were ok. hope their insurance pays for the damage and don't write it off as a an act of god.
Wow, what a picture! So glad this wasn't your house (and that the owners are OK). We had strong weather - wind/rain/hail/lightning - on Sunday night too, but nothing like this! I hope your health issues get under control quickly and that you feel better soon.
I'm surprised you don't jump up and down Bruni - you need review now not in one month! Your poor heart! I'm glad you could tell us about the storm - it helps in times like these to form descriptions to relate! Very frightening!
@maggiemae I agree with you Maggie, but my cardiologist is so busy and this is a yearly checkup. I've tried to get an earlier appointment. he's the one that did the two ablation procedure. one in 2012 and in 2013 there was a leakage and I had a second ablation done. now it's starting again that I get these episodes more frequently. he'll get a report from the ER and I'll call him tomorrow. we just got our power back at lunchtime. all our food was ok, nothing spoiled in the two days without power.
Oh my goodness, that looks very scary. Sorry to hear about your health issues too, and can sympathize big time as my granddaughter is going through the same issue too. She's had several ablations, and a pacemaker, and tomorrow has to have yet another ablation because the symptoms returned. Hope you have better success with your procedures than she's had with hers.
@skstein Sandy, I had two ablations. one in 2012. was on the waiting list for over a year. I was find for 11 month when it started all over again. another ablation in 2013 and from there on the odd fibrillation where I had to go to the ER and get cardioverted. not pleasant. it became more frequent now again and I don't know what the cardiologist will do when I see him September 3rd for my yearly checkup. a peacemaker was never suggested. Good luck to your granddaughter, hope this ablation will work. please keep me informed if you care to. I don't know anyone here who has this problem.
@bruni she actually has some rare electrical problem, I think called junctional arrythmia. Unfortunately she is allergic to just about everything and could not take any of the meds, and her heart was outpacing the pacemaker. Hopefully the ablation she had today will work. The surgeon seemed to feel it had been successful, and said she needed to come back and give everyone a dance lesson (she teaches ballroom dancing) to show she is all better.
@skstein Oh for her sake I do hope so. I'm on two different blood thinners and two heart medication and once in awhile the heart gets the wrong impulse and it starts racing. when that happens my blood pressure goes too. Monday morning at 4 am I woke up with it. took a reading and my blood pressure and the heartbeat both showed 159. my normal heartbeat is the lower 60th and blood pressure around 110 to 120.
Oh my, glad you are okay. What a storm you went through. My parents and relative and a few friends live in Michigan and thank God they are all fine, but have stated it was quite the storm that went through there too.
My husband had Afib and didn't even know it until he had his triple by-pass done and so they went in and burnt the area it was in and hasn't had a bit of trouble with it since. I have mitral prolapse and aacts nearly the same way. I take a beta blocker for it and it keeps it under control unless I get upset or over joyed!! Than it does whatever the hell it wants to do and I have to just wait for the symptoms to stop. Sometimes I have to have an Epi pen to slow it down, first it speeds it up and then it slows it down. Hate that feeling!! Am so glad you are ok and that your home is also!! We get a lot of horrific storms here!! FAV!
Read about your storm on Pyrrhula's page so just had to look it up . It sounded horrific but glad you had no damage. Sorry to read about all your health problems. Age doesn't make life easier
First- I'm so sorry to hear you ended up at the hospital again! You are such a trooper though and I hope the doctor will make the time to see you sooner than Sept. Secondly- glad to hear the neighbors were ok. Way back in my childhood we had an old branch fall off a tree and spear its way right through our roof and attic into my sister's bedroom! It was quite a sight! And thankfully no one was in her room at the time!
@kelly2 I agree with you on the age part. when you're older and getting sick and on top of it loosing 25 pounds without dieting, it ages you. in spirit I'm as young as a spring chicken, only my body doesn't agree.
