Road washout

I'm glad I went back and checked on the two pictures I posted this morning. something had gone haywire. there wasn't a picture of the washout, but there're two of the pictures of the turtles. so this is the one I wanted to share with you. my comment went something like this:
while walking the other day along the path to the Black River we came across a huge culvert (sorry, didn't take a picture of it) and right next to it were two holes washed out from all the rain we had lately. both holes were across from each other. this one was the largest. good thing I was walking behind Hans, who always tells me when there is something in the way. can you imagine not seeing and stepping into it.

It actually looks a bit like a dollop of oil on the road. Must be quite a deep hole to be so black in shadow!

I am glad you follow Hans and he lets you know what is in your path. Glad neither of you stepped in this hole. Strange to see. A mini or small sink hole. Nice photo of it, Bruni.

Wow- that would be scary! It's hard to tell how deep it is due to the lighting- but one across from the other doesn't sound to promising for the stability of this road!
