Last year summer our neighbours invited us to a dinner get together with his brother and wife and afterwards we all sat around a bon fire in their backyard. at one time the conversation came up to attracting different type of birds and from there it went into birdhouses. the neigbour's brother said, since I'm going to retire soon, I'll look into building one for you.( he meant for his brother. I just have to get myself a table saw. Hans had an old one and said he could have it. well, yesterday this couple came for a visit and brought a Purple Martin birdhouse which he built for his brother. they started right away to install it on a post and I took pictures from our kitchen window of the work in progress. here you see different parts of the house and tomorrow I'll show you the finished product.
@skstein It's like an apartment building. on both sides (front and back) are the entrances. 12 all together. a little big for our property but I'll enjoy seeing it from our window. our neighbour has a smaller house, but a larger property than we have.
@peterday It's for Purple Martins. so far I've seen any in our area. I hope the neighbours won't be disappointed., but it looks great on their property.
@bkbinthecity Brian I just hope there're Blue Martins in our area. hope the neighbors won't be disappointed after their relative surprised them with this beautiful birdhouse. I just like to see it through my window and it'll be interesting to watch the birds. was told they're very sociable.
