Another picture of the seedpod

I took a variety of pictures of this seedpod. the seedpod looks almost nicer than the Jack in the Pulpit - Canada's only Native Wild Orchid.

It actually looks juicy which a seedpod is not normally! Great scarlet gloss!

@maggiemae they are juice and you're right. I never thought any of it. some had fallen off and I threw them back into the garden. this one will soon go back out there too. right now I enjoy the color in the small vase on my windowsill.

Neat shot! I've seen jack in the pulpit in New Jersey, but never noticed the seed pods.

@eudora Diana my husband just explained it to me from what he says, the large stamen of this flower is the beginning of the seed pod and as the leaf of the flower dies, the seeds on the pod turn slowly from green ripe red.

We had Jack-in-the-pulpits when I was growing up in Connecticut. They were protected even then because of their rarity.
