A sad story about a young couple loosing their home to a fire.
(the pictures are easier to read when you click on black)
Finally, after being cooped up at home with this heat wave we're having, Hans and I decided to go for an afternoon drive, afterall the car has air conditiong.
We were just driving down our road towards the lake, when we saw that the road ahead was cardoned off by police. we had to go back the way we came and turn north instead, passing a few side streets and then going down one towards the lake and back on Lake Drive towards the fire.
Actually, the fire was out already before we got there. all we saw now was a smoke plume. by foot we did get a bit closer to it for me to take some pictures.
There were a few fire trucks there and more on the way from what we heard. I also saw this policeman escorting an elderly lady from her home (right next to the one in question) to his cruiser where she could comfortable.
Hans and I went back to our parked car and continued our outing - a drive along Lake Drive untill we came to the next town and from there still further till we reached the ferry docks of the First Nation (Chippewa Indians). Here is where Hans and his partner are taking the ferry next week to go across Lake Simcoe to the Gorgina Island to build a deck for a couple owning a cottage on this island.
On our way back home, we stopped again at the cardoned off area to see what progress has been made.
You'll find out more by tomorrow.
