Daydreaming

I prefer this one over the Panther. it's by George Mubayi, the stone is Cobolt and the asking price is $3,420.

Mines:
A little more about the mines and creation:
Most of the stone artists use is mined by hand. mines tend to be small-scale, open cast operations. they are too small to cause any environmental damage and form a valuable alternative source of income to rural communities.

Creation:
Most sculptors find the form of their inspiration in the shape of rock. each sculptor has their own personal style and will choose the stone to suit their style. there is generally no pre-sketching - everything is created free-form.

I'll copy what is said about about technique together with my third picture.
I love the distinctive African art of the big, square fingers. The information this time is fascinating too!

Great shot showing this beautiful sculpture.
( not long after we brought our sculpture I got a pair of books from our son . One the history of Zimbabwe and one of sculpture makers.)

Nicely captured. The way a sculptor sees the sculpture in the stone fascinates me almost as much as how they manage to get what they see out of it by chiseling and carving it!
