Bed of roses

(I like it better magnified.)

This guy creeped me out while I was shooting ladybugs the other day. He's kinda huge, more than an inch in size. I don't think beetles bite but they're pretty scary like cockroaches! :-)

He seemed to be sleeping, I braved myself to get closer and snapped away. This probably would be my first and last opportunity to shoot a huge metallic green beetle.
wow! i love this

Wow, beautiful combination! Soft floral colors and focus with sharp metallic beetle greens. The Rose Chafer, Cetonia aurata I believe.

Well the color combination is just gorgeous! We used to find them eating plums on our tree and in flight, they sound like hummingbirds...but not quite as charming!

Awesome contrasts!

I must say though, when I saw the tiny thumbnail in your photostream I thought you'd placed a tiny green Easter egg in the middle of a flower and thought that was pretty funky! ;)

your story makes me giggle. These things scare me too. I photographed one last summer, but from far away with my borrowed 400mm zoom. As much as these guys scare me, this one looks sweet all snuggled in. Nice capture!
