This guy creeped me out while I was shooting ladybugs the other day. He's kinda huge, more than an inch in size. I don't think beetles bite but they're pretty scary like cockroaches! :-)
He seemed to be sleeping, I braved myself to get closer and snapped away. This probably would be my first and last opportunity to shoot a huge metallic green beetle.
Well the color combination is just gorgeous! We used to find them eating plums on our tree and in flight, they sound like hummingbirds...but not quite as charming!
I must say though, when I saw the tiny thumbnail in your photostream I thought you'd placed a tiny green Easter egg in the middle of a flower and thought that was pretty funky! ;)
your story makes me giggle. These things scare me too. I photographed one last summer, but from far away with my borrowed 400mm zoom. As much as these guys scare me, this one looks sweet all snuggled in. Nice capture!
