The Drake Almshouses - Old Amersham

In my quest for knowledge, history and photography, I though I would go in search of the The Drake Almshouses that Jo took back on the 28th April.

These houses were a gift to the town by Sir William Drake, built in 1657 "for the relief of 6 poor widows of good repute in the parish".
Although these are Grade II listed buildings, there are now only 4 houses here, as they needed to be reconstructed to meet today’s standards.
