This incredible bridge is a pedestrian and cyclist tilt bridge which crosses the River Tyne in the North East of the UK. It was lifted into place by one of the world's largest floating cranes in November 2000 and opened to the public in September 2001. It has a schedule of tilt-times when it is opened to allow ships or smaller crafts to pass through. We were lucky enough to catch one of these times. At night it has a constantly changing display of colours lighting up the bridge. Also known as the Gateshead Milennium Bridge. The coloured building to the right is the Baltic Centre, once a flour mill, now a contemporary art gallery.
I loved the look of this bridge when it was first on TV....a real success story compared to the Millenium Bridge in London......beautiful capture Judith.
