The Baltic Art Gallery

The Baltic Centre has been created out of the old Flour Mills along the south bank of the River Tyne in Gateshead. It is the biggest gallery of its kind in the world, and has a frequently changing display of contemporary art. This collage shows the work of Daniel Buren, a French artist born in 1938. The two lower pictures show a gallery inspired by the coloured panels at the front of the building. Large sculptural mirrors are positioned to reflect and refract light from the coloured windows above. It was great fun to walk among the mirrors and light pouring in, and was a truly interactive display.
It looks a very interesting place Judith.......the light & display looks very well done!
