St Paul's Monastery, Jarrow by busylady

St Paul's Monastery, Jarrow

This ancient monastery owned by English Heritage was the original home of the Venerable Bede. It contains the oldest dedication stone in the country and also the oldest stained glass. It was built in AD 685. The three inserts show the tiny stained glass windows which are situated in the wall to the right. The small round one is made from glass found on the site dating from the original building.
A truly wonderful capture. Fav
