We had a garden club visit to a wonderful garden at Lode in Cambridgeshire this evening. Richard Ayers is the retired head gardener from Anglesey Abbey, a National Trust property. His son is now doing head gardener so it runs in the family. Richard gave a talk to Blunham garden club earlier in the year and we asked if he opened his garden to groups. He was very willing to show us his garden, was very knowledgeable and most welcoming. We also went into his neighbour's garden where tea and cake was served in and around the summer house - most civilised! The ladies from the village church served the refreshments and money raised is given to the church. If you're in the area it is open gardens day at Lode on Sunday 19th July.
A very beautiful garden. I love how the path meanders through and the planting around it. A very peaceful place to be. And cake -well that just tops it off!
Lovely composition, Fav
