This turned out not to be the best vantage point for seeing the famous Flying Scotsman thundering past after her decade-long £4.2m refit. We had a long wait in a field at the small village of Offord after she was held up by trespassers on the line at St. Neots. She eventually arrived in York over an hour late. However, it was a momentous occasion which we shared with thousands of enthusiasts. I understand that people had paid £450 for a ticket to take this inaugural trip from London to York and were treated to a champagne breakfast.
A wonderful & nostalgic capture -- a great billow of smoke , and motion of wheels/ pistons !! I am sure it was a great thrilling moment to see it passing by !!
I've just watched this on TV. An excellent capture of this special moment in time - what a buzz you must have felt. I would loved to have been on board, wouldn't you?
How wonderful to see this! How did you know it was due to run? Obviously advertised for the train enthusiasts. I would love to see it and try for a shot as it thunders past! Great capture Judith - you can see the movement! Fav!
My slides are all in cubes that hold about 30-35 slides and I try to do at least one a day. On ugly days I might do three a day. It takes 7 minutes for my scanner to do 4 slides. But It will be an ongoing project for a very long time. Then I have to go back thru them and actually delete a lot of them I'm sure. I couldn't do that first time around.
I would like to see this at some point on it's UK tour.
