We returned home via Spalding in Lincolnshire yesterday and walked alongside the River Welland. The river bisects the town from East to West as it flows, out to the Wash. Land has been reclaimed from the wetlands since medieval times when Spalding was prone to flooding. If you look VERY closely you may be able to see a family of ducks close to the river bank. No? Ok I'll post a pic of them tomorrow!
@happypat Ah well spotted Pat. We thought a first it was an old foot bridge but apparently it is the remains of an old chain bridge. We walked round to the other side and found the old forge museum, sadly closed, so we'll have to go back another day.
