Burghley House, Stamford by busylady

Burghley House, Stamford

A grand country house built for Sir William Cecil who was the Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. Built between 1558 and 1587, it is still lived in by the Cecil family today. We spent a lovely few days here in Stamford for a re-union with some of Peter's school friends who are all turning 70 this year.
A lovely image and I bet it was lovely for Peter to meet up with old school friends. Fav

A truly magnificent building and how well you've captured it. I can't get over the manicured grass and particularly the lines in the gravel. Sounds like a great reunion too.

What a grand 'house'.

This really is grand. Imagine all that space! I'd guess the family uses only a small portion of it on a daily basis.
