Even if thinking into spring seems way far away, the level of Lake Tapps (WA) continues to fall. Preparation for the spring runoff on the White River is thought out will in advance. Initially a 1909 hydroelectric project, it now includes flood control, although if you want to boat on the Lake, four wheel drive is advised.
This is looking east at the last leg of the diversion canal into Lake Tapps. The surface water level was raised an estimated 35 feet, with many of the stumps from the tree clearing still remaining in the new lake, some of which are near the water surface when the lake is full.
