3..2..1.. Lift off !

Can anyone identify these for me? This is the first year I've seen them around.
I watched these ducks for about 10 min from the car. I got out and slowly walked towards the pond. Snapped a couple pictures, and then they flew off - in a hurry.

The one of the left looks like a bufflehead. Google them both and I bet you will find pictures.

I'm no expert, but I believe those birds might be hooded mergansers. That's very nice shot of them in action. Love the way you've managed to catch the puddles created by their takeoffs.
