Backyard brown bird

Not sure what type of bird this is. He was waiting for the big red winged black birds to leave so he could go for a turn at the bird feeder.
Super focus and dof

Nice capture! This looks like a male House sparrow ...I don't blame him for waiting on the bigger birds to leave.

@dsp2 thank you Dinah. I should really brush up on my birds... we had a backyard bird guide, but I haven't been able to find it since I started this project.

I have Merlin Bird ID from Cornell Lab. Its very good and you can put it on your phone. I think its free or at least cheap. Looks kind of like a chickadee.

Great capture. I also think it is a male house sparrow

It is a male House Sparrow, Heather. It is originally from Britain,Europe, North Africa and parts of Asia. Now thanks to introductions, deliberately or accidental, by man it is now probably the most widely distributed wild bird in the world.

Lovely shot of this sweet sparrow! At my feeders the sparrows usually wait for the other birds to leave before they approach. Sometimes they will join the female cardinal and she doesn't seem to mind them sharing the feeder. :-)
