Wow. An instant FAV. I love everything about it. Great capture!! We are still waiting on the last of our snow to go and then in a few weeks we should have some pretty flowers springing up :)
@amandal Thanks, Amanda... I am always hesitant to use a vignette, but I had a dark stem in the lower corner that I wanted to disappear.. this seemed to work... glad you agree!
@k1w1 Thanks, Christine! Oh I hope that spring arrives soon where you live... I have absolutely ached for spring this year! Still cool but things are greening up and starting to bloom. I am taking care of my best friend's cat while she is on her honeymoon, and I helped myself to one of her daffodils!
Beautiful. You nailed your homework assignment. I don't think that I have any real hints except that I have a good macro lens (100mm) and I shoot often. For flowers a lot of folks use a tripod but I think that is too much to lug around. I'm really working on light - you totally nailed that here.
@cdonohoue Thanks, Cathy. I think I need a macro lens and a better lens. It was windy outside so I set up near a window indoors thus natural light although it was quite cloudy, with a tripod, used live view and self timer. Your light on the past 3 flower photos have been spot on!
@cindymc Thanks, Cindy. I think daffodils are difficult too. It was easier with my point and shoot since it had a macro lens. Had to do a bit of cropping here. It still isn't as sharp as I'd like... trying to figure out if it is me, or need something better than the kit lens it came with in a bundle pack.
@calm - So this is just a regular 18-55mm lens? I think you did an awesome job. I bought an extension tube to help with the macro shots but I just can't seen to do anything with it. I wish I had a tutor!
absolutely gorgeous! the focus on the ruffles is excellent... your lens and you did a great job, wonderful detail and texture of the petals... perfect composition... fav
@cindymc Cindy this is one of the lens that came with my camera, an 18-135mm... I am to the point of thinking my eyesight is too poor to do photography or that my lens isn't too good. I'm hoping it is the lens and not me.. :) Hope you and yours are well... so good to see your posts and photos.
Don't sell this photo short as it is perfect as it is. We can sometimes get carried away with sharpness saturation and DOFF. Most important thing for me is to create the moment and then run with it. If you want sharper images and greater depth of field then aperture is 'your friend'. A fav from me.
