Abandoned

So many of these empty farmhouses dot the landscape where I live... a sign that the ways of the past are being left behind. It is almost impossible to make a living on a small farm today. Many work long hours for corporations which leave little time or energy to farm. And you can see how rocky and poor the soil is in the foreground, making any type of agriculture most difficult on this farm.
Great lighting and composition, sepia really makes it look all Litle House on the prairie! Fav :-)

Wonderful capture. It always makes me a little sad to see deserted homes and businesses; that was once someone's dream home.

An amazing photograph that looks like it could have been taken in the 1920's. FAV

Beautiful image, even though sad.

The sepia tones really enhance what you were writing about this photo. It's quite sad but a definite fact of life now. Wonderful shot.

Fantastic vintage image! Boy that must have been some place at one time. Very sad ... so many hopes and dreams went into this homestead. What a great capture. FAV for me.

Fabulous composition and tones. Despite the weathered ruins this is such a beautiful shot!! It's a miracle a strong wind hasn't blown this house away. Huge fav and pin.

That place looks like it was once very beautiful. The balconies on the front overlooking the water, and that magnificent tree. It is sad to see all the farms disappearing.

Lovely shot, works well in sepia. Fav

Great capture of this once-beautiful house. Unfortunately that is the reality, and agriculture is not a prosperous way to make a living.

That's sad - looks like it's been an impressive property in its day.

I see places like this and can't help but stop and image the family life that use to go on inside the walls, in the yard. Sad to see times changing these rural places. Excellent capture and edit. Fav'd.
