Connor's Cake Smash!

Things have changed considerabley since my daughter was the age for having Birthday parties ! Now it seems towards the end of the proceedings you sit the child infront of the cake & let them smash it to bits! ( the cake is specifically designed for this!)
Connor was a little reserved & just grabbed bit of it 7 started eating it! Certainly entertaining !

Every 1st birthday we’ve been to in the last few years the child had a smash cake separate from the birthday cake. Would love to know the origin of this new tradition. Connor is a sweet boy!
