Tower Poppies on Tour. by carole_sandford

Tower Poppies on Tour.

Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, was an evolving installation at the Tower of London to commemorate the centenary of the out break of WW1. It was created by artists Paul Cummings and Tom Piper in 2014.
The Poppy wave, is currently on tour around the Uk, and for the past month or so has been at Lincoln Castle, The main wave was not easy to photograph as the sun was directly behind it, but at the bottom of the installation there were some scattered amongst the grass........
Very evocative photograph. So many interpretations one can put to it.

The poppies were stunning in London, and the one I own looks nothing without its 1000s of partners

i like the wild scribbles of grass against the red splashes. i did enjoy the display at the tower - very moving. i took my mother on what turned out to be a grey, drizzly, cold late afternoon, and we happened to catch one of the roll of honour ceremonies. so poignant as everyone stood in damp and respectful silence
