Ruined Bradgate House by carole_sandford

Ruined Bradgate House

The birthplace of Lady Jane Grey. Jane was nominal queen of England for just nine days in 1553, as part of an unsucessful bid to prevent the accesion of the Catholic Mary Tudor. Still quite striking today as a ruin.
Recognised this straight away! Deer still rutting?

@shepherdman Distinctive isn't it? If you live in Leicestershire, which I believe you do, then I am not surprised that you recognised it! I am originally from Loughborough, so have visited this park on many occasions & I miss it, now that I live in Lincolnshire.

Lovely candid shot of visitors. What a lively sunny day too. Looks an interesting place to visit, her story as a political pawn is so tragic.

Amazing to think that this still survives the ravages of nature and time.
