Castle on the River Trent

Today we had a ride out to Newark, a place really that I have only seen from the relatively new A46 dual carriageway, don't usually need to go in to the town. However our car dealer in Lincoln has this week ceased trading & Newark is now the nearest to us, so we went to have a look.
Whilst there we had a wander around Newark Castle, nestled next to the Trent. King John, he of the Magna Carter fame, died here of dysentry in 12 something or other ( something I didn't know). It must have been really impressive in its day!
Still looks impressive now! Don’t see many castles in NZ!
