None Compliant Butterfly

There were two butterflies flitting around each other & only settling for a few seconds each time! This one did finally settle for a little longer, but refused to open its wings, so I’m not actually sure what it is. It also has quite a haughty stance I think!

compliant or not, it’s a great macro. Wasn’t sunny so it wasn’t opening it’s wings. From what we saw of them flitting around, I’d concur with Louise's identification.

Great macro in spite of it not opening its wings for you !!! At least you found a butterfly - I have not seen any butterflies in the garden this year in spite of suitable flowers and the buddleia nearly in flower !
